From the library of Corby Castle (Philip Howard's [author] country seat near Carlisle) with Clare Howard's (direct descendant) bookplate on front endpaper. 4to. pp. [6], 602, [2]. Rebound in decorative half dark Morocco with raised bands, elaborate gilt spine & marbled boards. Internally clean and complete. Half title with some tissue repairs to edges of leaf. Page 419 has some marginalisation to leading edge. Collates complete. ESTC T114867. An attempt by a leading Catholic Gentleman to prove compatibility between Geological findings and the Biblical accounts.
