About This Item

Morrow, 1975. `. Very Good/very good. Hardcover. Very good or abit better in very good, price clipped dust jacket with some sunning to the spine strip and minor waer at the tips. Hardcover. Pictorial endpapers. 324 pp. with filmography, index. Illustrated with photos. Scarce and highly sought after biography of iconic and ultimately tragic Hollywood star Carole Lombard. Both her career and her extraordinary personal life are vividly re-created. Born Jean Alice Peters in Fort Wayne, she was a tomboy as a young girl. She and most of her family moved to Southern California where her enchanting beauty led to mostly small movie roles, She hit her stride (eventually becoming the highest paid female movie star) in the mid-1930s with the the advent of the "screwball" comedies in which she became the supreme comedienne.
