About This Item
1925. Hardcover. Very Good Condition. Scrapbook containing 35 original cartoons about a woman, apparently a Broadway actress (named Leila Hill?) in the hospital. Likely made to cheer her, it pokes fun at doctors and the medical establishment and portrays her as long suffering, funny and vital. The cartoons are all ca. 6" x 6" and mounted to black construction paper, save for one folding panel which is wider. Wear to the one folding cartoon, a few coming loose from the page, light chipping to a couple of edges, but otherwise in very good condition. Clearly the work of a professional cartoonist, the artist's name is not present. The first folding sheet is on the back of The Fowler Hotel stationary with the name of the manager who was active in the 1920s and the imagery is consistent with a ca. 1920s date. Size: Octavo (8vo). Quantity Available: 1. Shipped Weight: Under 1 kilo. Category: Humour; Comics & Graphic Novels. Inventory No: 045452.
