[Neate W65: The most famous of all mountaineering books. Whymper was a young wood engraver who became obsessed with the first ascent of the Matterhorn. Although his writings and lecturing brought him success, his life may be said to have been ruined by the tragedy which followed his moment of triumph].. Facsimile. Soft Cover. VG.
