About This Item
London: Faber & Faber, 1967. Paperback small trade, very good condition, black & white tables, edges lightly foxed, white background covers little marked, front cover bottom corner tip creased, inside covers lightly toned, minor edgewear. 303 pp. Horace C. Levison has written an important book to help us decide when to take a chance and when not to. He treats chance as a 'science', but there is no scientific jargon in the book. He starts of with easy questions of dice-throwing, poker hands, and roulette spins to help us understand how chance affects the importance of statistics, the worth of opinion polls, the value of advertising campaigns, and the assessment of production methods. (Originally published, 1950.).
