About This Item
The Reilly & Lee Co. Chicago, 1910 This is a hand made high school year book assembled by Maxine Kathryn Burmeister who attended James A Foshay Junior High School in Los Angeles. She graduated in the Winter Class of 1927, one of some 209 in her class. She graduated in one of the early classes, the school having opened in 1925. Book size about 6 by 9 inches with some 189 or so pages. Bound in blue cloth over boards with gilt and blue decoration and lettering. One of those early Yearbooks where the publisher provided an outline of what to enter in the book and then the student filled-in the book in whatever manner they chose. This is a nice example of the type with much hand written material from classmates, friends and teachers; some 15 photographs (You should see the outfit on the Girls Phys-Ed Teacher); various school published material; invitations; and much else. I could say this is rare, but it is actually unique, one of a kind, as are all these old hand-made yearbooks. A reference book for Women's Studies showing how the young girl of the 1920's was educated. This is one volume in a collection of some 65 of these old Yearbooks ranging from the late 1800's to the 1930's mostly from the Midwest which will be in my book seller catalog titled 'Women'. Light wear; covers soil; rear cover with previous damp evidence. GOOD Language: eng Language: eng Language: eng. 1st Edition.. Hardcover. Good/No Jacket.
