About This Item

New York: Redding & Co., Masonic Publishers, 1885. Hardcover. Fine. 8vo - over 7¾ - 9¾" tall. See photos for condition details. Hardcover, brown cloth boards, blind stamped, and decorated in silver and gilt. A beautiful example boards being clean and cloth still having the original shine. The only issue being some very light sunning to the spine. Floral end pages and front and rear are clean with no markings, no hinge issues. Second end page shows the original owner signature lightly written in pencil at the bottom where there is also a few smudge marks. Color frontispiece is protected by the original opaque page acting as a tissue guard. Remaining pages are toned due to age but show little use. There were a couple other small smudge marks or foxing stains noted but nothing serious. There is an issue with the binding starting at page 200 to approximately 220: the quadrant of pages is slightly offset to where you could see the binder string and the image at page 200 has separated about 2 inches at the bottom. Despite this issue the book is still graded as fine due to the beautiful condition of the exterior and overall condition of the pages.

Terms of Sale

Yesterday's Book Shop (Member IOBA)

Purchases will ship by US Media Mail or Priority Mail (if buyer selects) and higher priced items may have insured placed on the order and will typically ship within one business day. Additional postage may be required for multiple volume books or books weighing over 5 lbs., but only in unusual cases. Insurance is available upon request though we normally place insurance on any item of $75 or higher at no additional cost to the buyer. Non-US sales will ship by First Class International or Global Priority. Additional postage may be required for multiple volume books or books weighing over 4 lbs.

We always take extra care in packaging and shipping. Books are typically wrapped in packing paper or bubblewrap before packaged in a sturdt shipping box. All orders, even those shipped by US Media Mail, will be given a USPS tracking number which will be sent to the buyer so they will know when to expect arrival. Please let us know if there is a book with incorrect or missing photos. We recently moved the inventory to Biblio and a title or two may have had issues with the photos being transferred over.

Yesterday's Book shop is owned and operated by a disabled veteran. Due to my limitations, I often have to rely on speech-to-text software to list the books. If the description has typos ("and pages" instead of "end pages", pace downs instead of pastedowns, guilt instead of gilt, etc,) PLEASE let me know so I can correct the listing. The software spells words by phonetics and can make errors that I may not catch.

There is a 30 day money back guarantee if the book arrives damaged or is not as described. Please contact us prior if you have any issues with your purchases and we will make sure you are taken care of.

About Yesterday's Book Shop (Member IOBA)

Yesterday's Book Shop is an independent, family-owned establishment. The store first opened in 1966 under the name Collector's Corner and was located in Western Maryland. The Collector's Corner dealt mainly in books but also sold stamps and assorted ephemera. In 1975 the name was changed to Yesterday's Book Shop when the store only offered books and printed matter. In the early 2000s the brick and mortar store was closed and now we only sell online.

All of the book pictures were taken at the time the book was listed and we never use generic or stock photos in any listing. If you would like additional photos or information on any listing please let us know and we will be more than happy to comply.
