This scarce folio contains a facsimile of the 1847 Italian chromolithographic architectural plates: "Album di gemme architettoniche ossia gli edifizj piu rimarchevoli di Vicenza E Del Suo Territorio rilevati da G. Zanetti, disednati da M. Moro, e con cenni illustrativi dimonstrati da G. Co. Pulle"

The facsimile was published in 1990 in a limited edition of only 100. The original book had 49 color plates of "The most conspicuous monuments and palaces of the city of Vicenza and the surrounding area". Every plate in the original book is accompanied by 2 other plates with architectural elevations and plans or details and one or more pages with the description and history of the monument. Each plate dedicated to a noble or a local authority. Dimensions of the plates: 20 x 13 3/4inches (18 x29 cm). The images are 11.5 x 7.5 inches'

THE FACSIMILE OFFERED HERE IS A COMPLETE SET OF THE 49 COLOR PLATES OF THE PALACES AND MONUMENTS, PLUS THE ILLUSTRATED TITLE AND A DEDICATION PAGES, 4 PAGES INTRODUCTION AND PHOTOCOPIES OF THE TEXT THAT ACCOMPANIES THE PLATES. IT DOES NOT HAVE THE ADDITIONAL PLATES OF ELEVATIONS , BUILDING PLANS OR DETAILS.

One of the most beautiful and important landscape and architectural works of the 19th century relating not only to Vicenza but in general, which portrays the most famous monuments and palaces, a work that could be considered a tribute to Palladio and his imitators. Alberici: "(Moro is) one of the few artists who illustrated that city (Vicenza), which lives again in his lithographs, lively, cultured in the climate of the time and in the aspects of daily life".

Condition / Notes: This handsome cloth-covered folio is in very good condition, exhibiting very little age/wear externally. The pages are clean and the plates are bright and crisp, like new. .
