About This Item
London: Published by Coin Street Action Group, 14 Baylis Rd, SE1, On Behalf of Communities in Paddington, North Southwark, Covent Garden, Kings Cross, & Spitalfields, 1977. 16 x 23 1/2" poster, silkscreened in black and red.
A strikingly designed poster by the Coin Street Action Group, featuring a person - their body composed of a street map of the area - about to be struck by a falling tower.
The Coin Street Action Group began in 1977 in response to development proposals in the area, including what would have been Europe's largest hotel at the time. The campaign was successful, and in 1984 thirteen acres of the area were purchased by the group for community development.
Several heavy creases, with wheatpaste residue to verso from being posted, else very good and bright.
