About This Item
Boston: Crocker & Brewster, 1832. Hardcover. viii, 340p., small hardbound book in 7.2x4.5 inch boards, half-bound in cheap morocco over marbled boards, a re-bind of an earlier production; raised bands gilt with plain gilt titling. The textblock was trimmed, affecting an old sepia ownership signature to titlepage, but we see no other damage, and margins remain satisfactory. The leather elements (spine and corner-tips) are worn along extremities with little abrasion to marbling; the presumably substituted endsheets are a little dust-soiled but rather nice. A little saddle-soap, water-color and archival leather dressing would work wonders. Author a layman Protestant with no announced affiliation. He might have been influenced by Swedenborg.
