About This Item
1953. MURDOCH, Iris. SARTRE: ROMANTIC RATIONALIST. New Haven: Yale University Press, 1953. Part of the series Studies in Modern European Literature and Thought, edited by Erich Heller. First American edition of Murdoch's first book. 78 pp. Slim octavo, orange cloth, titled in black at spine and upper board. A mostly clean and near-fine copy, but lightly foxed at top-edge of the bookblock and final endpaper; also, the cloth is sunned at spine and very lightly so at perimeters of boards. In a dust jacket which shows general light soiling and minor edgewear, with a few spots and a couple of closed tears, but is very good overall. An uncommon title.
