Publisher's dark brown cloth binding, very clean, bright gilt portrait of the author on the front cover, bright gilt stamping to spine, light wear only. Tight binding, no inner hinge gaping or separation, slate gray end papers, unmarked. 462 pp., plus advertisements in rear, including a reprinted article from the NY Tribune, October 13, 1885 "Balzac in English" and other reviews. A lovely, fresh copy. Part of a uniform designed publisher's binding, issued in the late 19th century, other titles available from this series.
