Synopsis
The Same River Twice: Honoring the Difficult is Alice Walker's personal account of the time period during the years of filming The Color Purple . That time period saw her dealing with the transition from quiet recluse to public figure, as well as handling the criticism and hostility that she received from the release of the film. The book includes journal entries, letters to Spielberg, Danny Glover, and Alice Walker's original screenply for The Color Purple.
