Description:

Program for Mississippi political operative and businessman Sam Y. Wilhite's 75th birthday celebration in 1994. The celebration included numerous speakers, including Congressman Gillespie V. "Sonny" Montgomery. The program consists of a biography of Wilhite and many pages of photographs from Wilhite's life, from his childhood to his college attendance at Mississippi State University, where he was editor-of-chief of The Reflector and speaker at the funeral of the first Bully mascot, from his World War II Naval service to his early political work on Senator James O. Eastland's 1948 campaign, Mississippi Governor Hugh White's 1951 campaign, and Adlai Stevenson's 1956 presidential campaign, and from his industrial development work in Aberdeen and West Point, Mississippi and Florence, Alabama to his work as chairman of the board and president of the Columbus & Greenville Railroad.
