About This Item

Philadelphia, PA: Geo. W.H. Moore / Sam S. Shubert, 1918. First Edition. 5 1/2 X 7 5/8 Inches. 24 PP. "In an evening in which there was an abundance of good dancing, Fred Astaire stood out ... He and his partner, Adele Astaire, made the show pause early in the evening with a beautiful loose-limbed dance." - Heywood Broun, Founder of the American Newspaper Guild

Original November 11, 1918 program to the events at Sam Shubert's theatres in New York FEATURING "THE PASSING SHOW OF 1918", which included a young Fred and Adele Astaire. Complete program filled with period ads and full cast information. One of the first few Broadway performances for the brother and sister team prior to Fred's standout solo career. An important piece documenting the early years when Adele's billing outshined that of her brother.

Original stapled binding. A few pages starting and text is quite toned as is typical with these old programs. Overall a very nice copy of this rarity. OCLC locates "0" copies.
