Boston: Houghton Mifflin & Co, 1881. First edition, thus. F.O. C Darley. 8vo, pp. 287. Bound in green cloth stamped in gilt Rubbed at extremities, leave little toned, a very good copy. BAL 19497 (which notes that there were just 510 copies bound of the first edition.). This is a reprint of the second edition (1872) with the addition of four stories: Tom Toothacre's Ghost Story, The Parson Horse-Race, Oldtown Fireside Talks of the Revolution and A Student's Sea Story.
