About This Item

Tight, square spine. Clean, unmarked interior. Metallic stamping remains bright. A few small areas of sunning to the exterior. Jacket has several one-inch or smaller tears, but else is in lovely shape. A typographic feast here with jacket treatment by the great Lawrence Ratzkin, featuring tight spacing, a dynamic display face with distinctive abbreviated 'J', and elegant use of an italicized Garamond. A rare venture by Didion into international political reportage (she called the two-week trip 'terrifying'), Salvador details the dark tragedy of the Salvadoran Civil War, the US government's support of its far-right death squads, and the impact of the country's 1982 earthquake. 108 pp. New Journalism.

Synopsis
