About This Item
London: Little, Brown & Co., 1996. 1st ed.. Hardback octavo, dustjacket, very good condition (in very good dustjacket), minor edgewear jacket (light foxing reverse side, few small edges tears), edges faintly foxed, small dent top edge rear cover, pages faintly toned. 241 pp. First edition. Tony Gray examines Ireland in its new capacity as a sophisticated, highly technological, committed member of the European Union. The book embraces also the Ulster settlers (Protestants), who however British they feel, are recognised straight away as Irish as soon as they set foot outside their own tiny statelet. The author has written a lively, informative and authoritative exploration of Ireland and the Irish.
