Lebanon: National Council for Tourism in Lebanon Book. Very Good. Stapled Wraps. 4.5 X 10 inches, oblong. Stapled booklet. Clean with just a hint of edge wear. Pages not numbered, but about 40 with illustrations. Date not indicated on the brochure, but it was acquired with other Lebanon tourism brochures from the 1960s-70s. Informative, illustrated (photos, drawings) travel brochure about the ancient Phoenician city of Saida (Sidon), mentioned both in the earliest books of the Bible and in the poems of Homer. "From here originated the first civilizing influences of Europe, the colonies which to the Helladic homeland brought industries, arts, writing-all that raises man above the beasts and permits him to aspire to the highest destinies." 0.
