About This Item
New York: Mysterious Press, 1989. Hardcover. Good Plus to Very Good/Very Good. For the latter half of the 20th century, the award-winning Westlake was known as the master of the comic crime novel and probably best remembered for his Dortmunder series, featuring a blundering burglar. He also wrote many wickedly funny stand-alone novels. "Sacred Monster," is a stand-alone, featuring Hollywood actor Jack Pine and his boyhood friend, the mysterious Buddy Pal. First edition, first printing. About 6 1/4 x 9 1/4 inches, 231 pages in light-blue, paper-covered boards with darker blue backstrip and gold lettering on spine. Pictorial dustjacket shows lone figure in blue bathrobe seated in canvas chair, arms outflung with spilled drink on floor. Back panel has b&w headshot photo of author. Book and dustjacket show a narrow, light-colored stain along the bottom edge of the back cover or panel, o/w boards show a touch of surface wear and wear at corners. Text edges show very light foxing, o/w complete, clean and unmarked. Not remaindered, not ex-library. Dj shows minor surface wear but is free of tears, chipping, or scratching. Not price-clipped.
