About This Item

Preobrazhenie (Transfiguration). Russian feminist (feminist) magazine. Number 1 (first). Moscow., LINOR OOO `Amrita`. 1993 156 p., illustration.
The very first issue of the women's club magazine Transfiguration.
The history of one of the first feminist organizations in the USSR began in 1988, when we, like women all over the world, sat in the kitchen, exchanging opinions about our daily affairs and worries. We realized that our problems do not concern only us, but affect almost all women. What worried us? First of all, a vague sense of injustice. Each faced it in its own way, but we all felt it, it was a constantly repeating fate of all. We told our friends about it, they told their friends, and right there, along the chain, women began to appear, ready to cooperate with us. Some began to write the Charter of the organization, others tried to find an office, others began to prepare the Manifesto.
We were able to register the Women's Club "Transfiguration" as a public organization under one of the structures of the USSR Academy of Sciences on January 11, 1989. Since 1993 we have started to publish (once a year) the magazine "Transformation". Condition: good. There is some wear on the spine and covers, but the inside is fine.
Rare issue, no copy in Russian State Library.
