Reviews
On Oct 9 2019, a reader said:
Very telling description of the Russian state at the eve of WWI and the October Revolution. At that time the imperial state included countries as Finland, Poland, Ukraine and more, currently independant states like the Baltic Republics. It is an encyclopaedic introduction to the hugest country on Earth, full of delightful details about their peoples. Its remarks about what was observed one century ago help understand today's Russian society -as well as those peripheral countries of the time.
