An undated, probable first edition (1912). A complete, 2-volume Everyman's Library set of William Cobbett's account of his rides in England. Per Ross, p. 102, "This classic 'travel book' about England describes tours made on horseback by Cobbett through twenty-seven English counties. . .in various years from 1821 to 1832." With an introduction by Edward Thomas and index at rear of volume two. Number 638 & 639 in Everyman's Library Travel series, edited by Ernest Rhys. --- In 'flatback' binding style 1, full ribbed green cloth-covered boards with elaborate Reginald Knowles-designed gilt spine titling & decorations, blindstamped J. M. Dent vignette to front cover, brown topstain and fancy Knowles woodcut art at title page, endpapers & frontis. Volumes lack the dust jackets. --- With mild age-toning to leaves, acidic staining to endpapers, else a sound, well-preserved, unmarked set.; 12mo - 7 to 7-1/2 in. tall; xiii, [3], 320, vii, 335 pages .
