About This Item
Pomegranate Press, Beverly Hills, California - 1997 hardcover, 6¼" x 9¼", with dust jacket Remainder mark to bottom edges. VERY GOOD book in VERY GOOD unclipped dust jacket Rupert Hughes packed an amazing number of accomplishments into his 84 years - film pioneer, author, screenwriter, film director, composer, wit, and uncle and mentor to Howard Hughes. His personal life rivaled the turbulence of his famous nephew's: of his three marriages, the first ended in a much-publicized divorce; his second wife committed suicide, and his third wife died from an overdose of sleeping pills. His closest friends were Will Rogers, Sam Goldwyn, Charles Chaplin and Douglas Fairbanks.
