First edition of this taut thriller about a murderous New York cop hunting down the only witness to his crime--a Black man unable to convince anyone of his story. Something of a crossover between Himes' delightfully pulpy detective novels and his literary works in a more realist mode. First edition. Octavo (8.25 x 5.5 in.); 192pp; orange cloth boards, in dust jacket. Some faint yellow discolorations sporadically present to the boards, mostly toward the top. Thus near fine in a very good (+) unclipped jacket with three 1/2" closed tears at base of spine panel, light foxing to edges of rear flap. Attractive.

Heavy or oversized books may incur additional shipping charges, as may books shipped to overseas destinations. Any additional charges required will be communicated promptly.
We take safe shipping very seriously; all of our books are packaged in new cardboard boxes amply cushioned with biodegradable packing peanuts. Pamphlets and other flat materials items are ocassionally shipped in bubble-mailers with internal cardboard supports. All books with dust jackets are fitted with brand new archival protectors prior to shipping.
