About This Item
Finely bound in contemporary navy blue leather with five raised bands, twelve gilt cross bars, block gilt titles and date 1892 at bottom, cloth sides, new cream endpapers. Binding appears to be fine. The book block has edges are dull but the contents are clean except for a stain, faded in places to the bottom centre of the gathered sections affecting the first section, one other page has a stain on the right corner. No text is impaired. Previous owners' name and numbers to top-right side of title page. Interestingly, the reverse of Part 1 blank page has has a pencil inscription which appears to be a scholarly note about the books findings and value and discusses Hall's later book of 1909 about the ruins. All maps present and well-preserved; tight, bright, clean and strong.. Physical description; xi,[1], 376, 24p. : ill., 12 plates, 5 maps (3 folding) ; 8°. Includes index.
