London: C. Bathurst (and 35 Others), 1779. Nicholas Rowe (1674-1718) was known for his dramatic works, also named Poet Laureate. This is Volume 28 of Samuel Johnson's "Works of the English Poets," comprising the last six books of Rowe's translation of "De Bello Civilli" - an epic poem begun in 61 C.E. that recounts the Roman Civil War. Full leather binding, in rough condition. Clean text; begins with page 203 and continues to page 463. Very bright and fresh, with no foxing. The cover and Title page are present but . Later Printing. Disbound. Very Good/No Jacket. 16mo - over 5¾" - 6¾" tall.
