About This Item
London: John Murray, 1902. No dustwrapper, some bumping to spine ends and corners of blue boards, some fading to spine but gilt titles thereon are still clear, as are those on front board, though the picture of seagulls over the waves is a little bit rubbed. Original owner's initials and date (1903) in pencil on half-title along with a later owner's name and date (1971) in ink. Some yellowing and foxing to the pages, also to the b&w plates, a couple of which are loose but still present, but otherwise a good clean tight copy of this hard-cover book. Originally published in November 1902, this is a reprint from December the same year. The author's account of his voyage from San Francisco to England as an Ordinary Seaman on the four-mast barque ''Royalshire'' in August-December 1899. 375pp, 12 b&w illustrations.. Hard Cover. Good/No Jacket. 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall.
