New York: D. Appleton and Company, 1913. Hardcover. viii, 344p., boards. 7.5 x 5 in. Bound in publisher's dark green cloth, stamped in white on front cover and spine. Spine is sun faded with lettering worn. Book label at foot of front flyleaf. Good. Novel about the heir and successor to a noble English family whose wealth had been greatly diminished. Published the same year as the first British edition. Cannan was a pacifist, novelist, and friend of D.H. Lawrence.
