London: Day and Son, 1867. 2 volumes. xii and 367 pages; viii and 382 pages. Portrait. Recased in the publisher's quarter blue and red cloth with medals, clasps and other decorations elaborately stamped in gold. Bell was gazetted to the 34th in 1811 and was in the Peninsula to 1814. He went to India in 1825 with the 45th and was at Ava. In 1826 he exchanged into the 1st Foot and served in Canada and in the Crimea.
