London: Hutchinson, 1899. Early (first?) edition 1899. Blue cloth is stained and soiled, spine is darkened (gilt lettering faded), rubbing/bumping to spine ends and corners, gilt coat of arms on front covers, endpapers browned with ownership inscription to front free endpaper. Frontispiece portrait with tissue guard and other photographic plates predominantly very good (the plates appear to be tipped-in and one or two are partly detached), errata slip tipped-in near introduction. Some spotting within. Strain to stitching (with assocatiated brown stains to margins), but binding secure.. Hardcover. Good/No Jacket.
