About This Item
[Paris]: Kickshaws, 1989. Limited Edition. Wraps. Fine. One of 95 copies, oblong duodecimo, [28]pp., signed by Sheila Bourne and John Crombie. A lovely fine press book designed and written by John Crombie, who runs the Kickshaws Press with Sheila Bourne. Founded in 1979, the artwork (much of which is created by Bourne) is "designed to harmonize with the typography of the books and to illustrate, or decorate, the text", very much in the style of a French livres d'artiste (n.b., quote from Wiki).
Per the colophon (facing the title page) this volume no. 39 of the edition of ninety-five copies, signed by both Crombie and Bourne. Scarce in the marketplace, as of this writing we see only one copy online, located in France.
___DESCRIPTION: Bound in white stiff paper wraps with a design on the front wrap with the title having a mirror image below, similar design but in a different type font on the title page, the story line follows the "rolling stone" through an amazing variety of adventures with colour highlights on almost every page; oblong twelvemo in size (7 5/8" wide by 5 1/2" high), unpaginated with fourteen leaves. With a vernacular jacket by the prior owner of ivory paper, author and title hand-written on the spine.
___CONDITION: Volume fine, the wraps clean and unworn, the corners straight, a strong text block, the interior is clean and bright, and entirely free of prior owner markings; clean, crisp, and as new.
___POSTAGE: International customers, please note that additional postage may apply as the standard does not always cover costs; please inquire for details.
