In this novel, police detective Patrick Petralla is just made superintendent of an East London dockland area. He deals with new challenges, such as questions of race relations, allegations of police brutality, and press harassment, all why itching to be out on the streets again himself. Michael Gilbert (1912-2006) was an English solicitor and writer of crime fiction. He wrote various mystery novels as well as short story collections, and was a winner of the CWA/Cartier Diamond Dagger for Excellence.Collated, complete. In the publisher's original cloth binding, in the original unclipped dust wrapper. Externally, excellent, with no noticeable faults. Dust wrapper is in a similarly excellent condition. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are very clean throughout, with just a bit of age-toning to margins. Fine
