New York: Samuel French, 1935. First Edition. First Printing, publisher's folded and gathered sheets for the cloth issue. Octavo (19.5cm); eight disbound quires (as issued); x,[2],107pp. Modest external wear, subtle toning and a touch of dust-soil to first and last leaves, with a few faint creases and tiny chips to same; contents clean; Very Good+. A symphonic drama based on the author's 1931 play Potter's Field, complete with musical scores at the end of the book. The musical ran for four performances on Broadway in October, 1934. Green (1894-1981), a white North Carolina playwright, notably received the Pulitzer Prize for Drama for his play "In Abraham's Bosom," centered around an African-American farmer from North Carolina whose efforts at self-improvement are thwarted by segregation. Scarce in this format.
