Inscription reads, 'To --------/my very long time/friend/Best Wishes/Tony Rocco'. 234pp. Illustrated with photographs. The autobiography of Frederick Were, born 1933, in British North Borneo. He was just nine years old when in 1941 the Japanese invaded his home town of Kuching. His family suffered the horrors of rape, disease and starvation and, while living in daily terror of execution, his father sabotaged the enemy's communications was arrested and tortured. Freddy later went on to be a rock and roll singer in 1960s London, and became known as Tony Rocco. A near fine copy of a SCARCE first edition, first printing SIGNED BY TONY ROCCO..
