Yellow stamped title on spine and yellow stamped illustration on font board. Publisher's black topstain on text block. Two illustrated dust jackets and illustrated endpapers. Text block edges are slightly yellowed. Both dust jackets have minor tears and the corners are clipped but the price is still intact. Inner jacket has impression of the illustration on the boards. Jacket and endpaper illustrations by Alex Schomburg.

Tape marks from dust jacket tape, shadow of an adhered card pocket on the first free end paper, stamp stating "juvenile fiction" on the copyright page, and some dog-ear creases and such to pages. Still a very collectable copy of early Del Rey writing as Philip St. John - see photos. DJ is protected in a new Brodart cover and retains bright colorful space age artwork by Alex Schomberg.
