The front hinge is cracked. The rear hinge has been repaired at some point. There is light soiling and age toning to pages. Some pages have a shallow dampstain along the edges in the margins only. 8 By 10 Inches. Hard Cover. ; A beautifully illustrated book with 6 full page color lithographs and 16 black and white illustrations, some are full page, some have 2 on each page. "Mary Godolphin was the pseudonym of Lucy Aikin who undertook translating great literature into single-syllable words so that young readers could enjoy plots that were considerably more interesting than, say, the McGuffey readers of the 1880s or the Dick and Jane primers of the 1950s (still around today as decodable readers in elementary schools) .
