This book was published to accompany the exhibition of photographs by the Swiss-born American photographer, Robert Frank (1924-2019) held at Tate Modern, London from 28 October 2004 to 23 January 2005. The exhibition reflected the breadth of Frank's oeuvre and brought into focus the narrative and sequential aspects of his practice. Selecting a number of "storylines" from throughout his career, the exhibition included photography, film, video and artist's books and show Frank's frustration with the single photographic image , and his desire to present pictures in sequence and in varying media and to refer back to them time and time again..
