Introduction by the Honorable Elihu Root. Foreword by Field Marshal the Right Honourable Earl Haig. Bacon was an American statesman and diplomat, who served as United States Secretary of State and Ambassador to France. Boards and spine show shelf wear. This is an ex-library copy from the Sturgis Library in Barnstable, Massachusetts, the oldest library building in the country. Ex-library marks include small white letter on spine, bookplate from 1924, and stamps. Newspaper book review from the November 17, 1923 Boston Evening Transcript is tucked inside the book.
