Houghton Mifflin Company, 1942. First edition. Hardcover. Very Good in Very Good DJ. First printing, very good + cloth hardcover (orange red with diagonal patterns and author initials to cover) shows touch of bumping to top corners of covers, short gift inscription and date at top edge of front endpaper, signed previous owner bookplate at reverse of front endpaper, along with some other very light trace wear, in very good dust jacket (price at flap) that shows heavy exposure toning along spine (still reads fine), mild rubbing and soil, and with edgewear that includes closed tears and tiny open chips. 695 pages with endpaper maps. Still a pleasing copy of this noted work from the popular author that was turned into the award winning movie of the same name starring Richard Burton and Jean Simmons.
