First edition, inscribed by the author; 8vo; unmarked internally; publisher's blue cloth, extremities slightly rubbed, spine faded, with the original unclipped dustjacket, extremities rubbed, flaps spotted, large chip to top of backstrip and lower panel, upper panel with large 103mm closed tear with internal repair, several further small creases and nicks, else very good.
Presentation copy, inscribed by the author in black ink to the front free endpaper, 'Frederick Godber, with kindest regards from Evelyn Waugh July 4th 1939'.
