Robber's Roost : A Western Duo

I have been collecting William MacLeod Raine's books for more than 40 years and sure was glad to see something "new" by him. I thoroughly enjoyed both stories in this book as they are typical of his work, and I mean no disrespect by that comment. His stories are always full of characters who speak their mind and often do outrageous things. His women are never weaklings; and his men are not always brave; but when combined they bring a zest to his work few other authors have ever come close to meeting. The one down side I have is: Mr. Raine uses expressions and words which sometimes you have to guess as to their meaning and this was never a problem in his older published works because if there were any doubts there would be a footnote at the bottom of the page letting you know what he meant by that word or expression. This book does not do that and there are several such incidents in this book. For works that are nearly 100 years old they do stand up well, and they are exactly what I had expected to be reading when I purchased this book. For me William MacLeod Raine is one of the giants of the western genre, and I am glad his work is still out there for this generation to discover and read; and I hope they do.
