London: A. & C. Black, 1907 First Edition. xii, 236pp, including foldout map and 4pp. publisher's adverts. One of the 20 Shilling Series. 3000 copies. With 75 full page color illustrations printed by Messrs. Carl Hentschel, Ltd., with captioned tissue guards, top edge gilt and still bright. In the publisher's original blue cloth binding, with design of roses in tan, red and green. Titles, fleur-de-lis, shield and top edge in gilt. Gift inscription in old ink on front fly. A particularly nice publishers colophon dated 1907 at rear. Condition: Very Good Plus or even better, with some spotting to fore- and bottom-edge of text block. Boards are otherwise very nice without soiling or marks. Two lightly bumped corners. Interior is very clean with minimal age toning, aside from front and rear fly. **Author William Scott, RIBA (1848-1914) was a London trained architect who changed career to pursue etching and engraving. He spent much of his time living in Italy. The volume is very attractively presented, containing 75 full- page color illustrations , each with a labelled tissue guard, as well as 16 engraved head-and tail-pieces. Inman #67.. First Edition.
