The Rivers of America Series 61 Volumes (1937-1973 Mixed Editions Hardcover Set) History
61 Volumes, nearly complete set of the extensive Rivers of America series, a publication that spans from 1937 to 1973. Volumes consist of a variety of editions and printings, a combination of later printings of 1st Editions, 2nd Editions, Revised Editions, War Editions, and even one Book Club Edition (specifically, Great River: The Rio Grande).
Some volumes do NOT have dust jackets, making it difficult to determine printings and editions for every book in the set. Those volumes that do have dust jackets show significant wear, to include worn edges and hinges, poor repair jobs with tape, as well as hard nicks, large chips, and sizeable tears along the edges. Nearly all of the jackets are price-clipped, have prices in pencil or pen on the inside flap, and have sun fade to the spines. There are also spots, stains, and smudges on jackets, particularly fluid stains to the spines of the jackets. Fluid stains on many of the dust jackets carry onto the covers themselves (particularly of note are: The Salinas, The Lower Mississippi, Salt Rivers of the Massachusetts Shore).
Spots or stains on textblocks, some books have cracked bindings. Hardcovers have edge-wear and/or worn corners or spots and/or nicks along the edges. Compressed spine heads and tails. Heavy sunfade to the spine backstrips. Tiny book shop stickers on the rear paste-downs of several volumes, as well as large pencil checkmarks. Previous owners names and inscriptions, also there are some notations and stray marks. Overall, this set is in Good minus (G-) condition. Additional photos are available upon request. Please note this set will ship in separate boxes due to its weight and will require a signature upon delivery.
We are providing notations for each book available in the following format:
