In a work characterized by mentor Sigmund Freud as "brilliant,'' the noted psychoanalyst & expert on the psychology of religion examines religious & other rituals across times & cultures, "connecting the superstitious beliefs of prehistoric times with contemporary practices." Preface by Freud, this first American Edition was translated from the Second German Edition by Douglas Bryan, who adds a Note in the beginning along with an Introduction by the author. In 367 pages with Index. Orig. published in 1931 by the Woolf's Hogarth Press in London, this is the First American Edition in trade paperback format from 1976. Just removed from storage where it has been since reviewed (review notice laid in), it is in Fine condition: just slightly less crisp than Brand New! Completely clean, binding straight & strong, pages white & unmarked. Extremely slight rubbing to edges.
