Foreword by Sir Robert Menzies, author's note, appendix, chapter notes and index. There are two sections, of eight pages each, of black-and-white photography. Facsimile illustrated end pages. Brown coloured boards with gilt coloured titles to the back strip. Photographic dustwrapper with blue and white coloured titles to the front panel and back strip. The biography of Howard Walter Florey, the scientist, who, with his discovery of penicillin, created a treatment for previously untreatable conditions such as syphilis, meningitis, pneumonia and diphtheria etc. A little rubbing of the book edges. Light age toning of the text block edges and pages. Foxing to the top text block edge which has intruded a little on to the pages. Rubbing of the dustwrapper edges and panels with foxing to the fold over panels and to the top edge of the verso of the dustwrapper. Size: 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall.
