About This Item
Racine, WI: Whitman Publishing Company, 1952. Hardcover. Illustrations by E. Deane Cate. Small 8vo. Pale blue paper over boards with light and dark blue pictorial stamping, pictorial dust jacket. 250pp, (2pp ads). Line drawings, pictorial endpapers. Near fine/near fine. Faintest bit of minor jacket edgewear. A spectacular, tight and handsome first edition (#2304) of Harold L. Goodwin's pseudonymously-published young adult sci-fi novel, reprinted in 1958 as "Assignment in Space with Rip Foster." Better yet, this copy is boldly inscribed and signed by the author in black fineline opposite the title page: "For [---] / from his friend / Blake Savage / aka Hal Goodwin." Harold L. Goodwin (1914-90) authored popular science books under his name and children's series books under pseudonyms such as Blake Savage and John Blaine ("Rick Brant" series). An extraordinary copy, scarce in such a lovely jacket. Signed copies such as this are rarely seen.
