Fair to Good condition for its age. No dust jacket. Red-brown cloth boards blocked with gold lettering and albatross decoration by Gustave Doré. 12 pp. with title-vignette and 39 fine wood-engraved plates with tissue-guards. All the plates were engraved by notable French engravers after the fantastic nautical and Arctic designs by the famous French artist Gustave Doré. Boards are well-rubbed; barely attached; horizontal bubbling of cloth covering; a 3" piece of spine cover is missing at top, a 1" piece at foot; gilt clear. All pages present w/tissue guards. Large amount of rubbing to spine, frayed at both ends with loss of cloth at edges of board. Title page loose but present.
