First Edition, First Printing with publisher's review slip and promotional photograph. 12mo, mustard yellow cloth with gilt and brown stamped covers. Small spot of glue to the top edge, likely from the publisher, exceedingly clean and fresh otherwise with sharp edges and tight binding; DJ spine just faintly sunned, crisp and clean aotherwise with price of 8.95 intact. The final novel from the controversial French author, a 'charlatan, racist, and Nazi collaborator' (from the DJ flap) who was one of the foremost French writers at the time of his death in 1961 and regarded as forerunner by Vonnegut, 'A great liberator' by Philip Roth' (FWIW) and 'A great writer and a great man' by Henry Miller (again, FWIW).
