About This Item
KEYES, Thom. The Return from the High Seas. Illustrated by the Author. 8vo, original leather backed vividly colored paste boards, pp. [vii], 29. [Cochabamba, Bolivia:] Obliva Press, 1983.
First Edition. Number 76 of 100 copies, this copy with an inscription by the author/illustrator, "For...I thought I'd give all my friends a birthday present. Don't see being near the East Coast for some while. Fondly Thom Keyes. 6th July 1983 Cochabamba." He has also signed his name on title. At the bottom of the title he has added "Ex" to "Illustrated by the author," underneath which he wrote "painted after." Cochabamba is a city in the center of Bolivia in a valley in the Andes. Keyes is mentioned as moving there in Andy Roberts, Divine Rascal: On the Trail of LSD's Cosmic Courier, Michael Hollingshead (2019), p. 262. An eccentric bit of verse nonsense about a sailing voyage by Keyes (1949-1995), a writer of science fiction and screen plays. With a Preface about Lewis Carroll and his influence. The author's novels are recorded by OCLC, but not this, nor are any copies listed online at the date of this writing (2/26/21).
